On the day of your test you’ll be asked to do ONE of a possible FOUR manoeuvres;
Reverse Bay Park
Forward Bay Park
Parallel Park
Pull up on the right side of the road, then reverse two car lengths before driving on.
Whichever one you’re asked to do, just remember these important but simple tips;
- Take your time and make sure you know what’s going on ALL around you ALL the time
- STOP if you feel tense, there’s no rush!
- If you are affecting anyone else, stop and try to make eye contact with them. Then decide between yourselves what’s best to do next.
- If you lightly touch the kerb it isn’t a straight fail! Mounting or scraping the kerb will be a fail. You’ll need to move away from the kerb (probably by going forwards) but DEFINITELY check all around you to make sure it’s safe before you move.
Remember, we’re human beings, not robots. So while it’s nice to get the manoeuvre right first time, it’s also fine if we need to make a few safe adjustments, or even start again.
